Extension of Autonomous status to Loyola Academy Degree and PG College is given from 2008-09 to 2013-14 by University Grants Commission.

The Osmania University has accorded approval Autonomous status to Loyola Academy Degree and PG College for all PG Courses.

We have started B.Com. Computers & M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry from the Academic Year 2010-11. BBA Course started from the Academic Year 2011-12.

International Seminar was held in our college on "Food Safety & Risk Analysis", 6 - 9 of July, 2011.

NAAC Peer Team will be visiting our college 28, 29 & 30th of July, 2011 for Re-Accreditation.

Highlights


Osmania University Inter-Collegiate Tournaments and Open tournaments
In the Osmania University Inter-Collegiate tournaments, in a repeat performance of excellence, Loyola Academy Degree and PG college Volleyball team for women, won the Osmania University Championship for the third consecutive year, having won the title in 2008-09, and 2009-10. The team ably led by Miss. K. Swapna and M. Krishnapriya deserve our applause.
The Loyola Academy Basketball team for men made history by winning the Osmania University Inter-collegiate Basketball Championships for the first time after the inception of the college, and repeated their excellent performance by winning the Osmania University Inter-zonal championship held at Jadcherla, Mahaboobnagar as well, the third college to have won both the laurels in the last 30 years.
For the first time, the college Men’s Handball team won the III place in the Osmania University Inter-Collegiate Handball tournaments. The college women’s team also was fielded for the first time in the Osmania University inter-collegiate Handball tournament.
In Osmania University Inter-Collegiate tournaments in Badminton for men, the Loyola Academy team comprising of Mr. Srikanth, Mr. Venugopal, and Mr. R. Ganesh, won the IV place.
In Chess, out of 52 colleges, we stood in the 5th position securing 12 points. Mr. Abhishek Paul, Mr. Satish, Mr. Kishore, Mr. Vikram, and Mr. Vaibhav represented the college. The tournament was differed due to disturbances in the OU campus, with 2 rounds to go.
In the Osmania University Inter-Collegiate athletic meet, Mr. Sai Gopal Vivek (B.Sc  Animation) I year won the silver in 200M, Mr. Kanan (B.Sc Biotechnology) won the Gold in High Jump, and Mr. Saurab Chaturvedi (B.Com Computers) I year won the silver in 110 hurdles.
Loyola Academy football, table tennis, and volleyball teams reached the quarter finals and attempts will be made to further strengthen the teams and get into the top 4 in the coming years.
The college basketball team for men again established their credentials as the best team in the twin cities by winning the CCOB Cup, in the 3rd City College Old Boys Association Inter-Collegiate Basketball tournament organized by City College Old Boys Association, Hyderabad. They went on to win the open tournament organized by Sports coaching foundation as well.

 

 

Students Achievements

Miss. K. Swapna Reddy, B.A (Psychology) III year, represented India in the World Beach Volleyball Championship held at Chennai from the 27th to 30th October, 2010.
Mr. Abhishek Paul, B.A (Mass Communication) I year, won the III place in the South zone Inter Universities Chess Championship held at Chennai(Sathyabama University) representing Osmania University. He happens to be the first student among men, from our college, to have won an individual medal in the inter university championships. He also represented Osmania University in the All India Inter-University Chess Championships held at Bodh Gaya, Bihar
Miss. M. Krishnapriya B.Sc (Mathematics) II year, was a probable for the Indian Youth Volleyball team and attended coaching camp in Patiala. She represented Andhra Pradesh, in the National Youth Volleyball Championship held at Cuttack, Orissa. She also represented the state in the Sr. National Volleyball Championships held at Chennai, Represented the Osmania University in the All India Inter-University Championships held at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh .
Miss. M. Shravani, B.Sc (Mathematics) III year represented Osmania University in the All India Inter-University Volleyball Championship held at Gwalior.
Mr. Ramakanth, B.Sc (Computer Science) III year, and Mr. Joseph Mandela, B.Com (Honours) III year represented Osmania University in the A Division 2-days League organized by Hyderabad Cricket Association.
K. Uday Kumar, B.A (Psychology) II year, represented Osmania University in the South-zone Inter-University Basketball Championship held at Chidambaram from 15th 20th December, 2010.
S. Sai Ram, M.B.A I year represented Osmania University in the South-zone Inter-University Basketball Championship held at Chidambaram from 15th 20th December, 2010
Shahab Jahan Bin, B.Com (General) I year represented Osmania University in the South-zone Inter-University Basketball Championship held at Chidambaram from 15th 20th December, 2010
David Livingston, B.Sc (Electronics) I year represented Osmania University in the South-zone Inter-University Basketball Championship held at Chidambaram from 15th 20th December, 2010
V. Vamshi, B.Com (Professional) I year represented Osmania University in the South-zone Inter-University Basketball Championship held at Chidambaram from 15th 20th December, 2010
Five basketball players from our college playing for the University is a feat in itself.
Mr. Sai Gopal Vivek, B.Sc (Animation) represented Osmania University in Athletics, in the All India Universities Athletic Championship held at Vijayawada .
Miss. Ranjana Yadav, B.Sc (Food Technology) represented Osmania University in the All India Inter-University Hockey Championship held at Gwalior . She also represented Hyderabad District in the Andhra Pradesh State Sr. Inter District Championship .
Miss. Nikhita Asopa, B.Com (Honours) III year, represented Osmania University in the All India Inter-University Handball Championship held at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, from 23rd to 27th January, 2011.
Mr. Sagar Swaroop, B.Sc (Mathematics) III year represented the City Combined Colleges team and won the I place in Handball in the Osmania University Inter-zonal competitions held at Siddipet from 21st December to 22nd December, 2010. He also represented Medak District in the A.P. Inter District Handball Championships held at Warangal. Mr. Vijay Kumar, B.Sc (Mathematics) III year, represented Medak District in the A.P. Inter District Handball Championship held at Warangal.

Intramural Competitions 2010-11

Intramural competitions for the year were held from July 2010 which culminated on the Annual Sports Day held on 29th January, 2011. Competitions were held disciplines like Football, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, and Athletics for both men and women. Around 1200 students participated in the competitions. The overall championship was won by B.Com(Hons) and the individual championships for men and women were won by Nitin Reddy, B.Sc (CE) I year and Miss. K. Swapna Reddy, B.A(Psy) III year respectively. On the occasion, outstanding sportspersons who brought laurels to the college participating in all India universities and south zone universities tournaments were felicitated with awards.
Fr.Baliah Memorial National Level Inter-Collegiate Basketball tournament 2011
The third edition of the tournament was held from 9th to 11th February, 2011 in which around 22 teams participated. In the preliminary knock-out stage 16 teams vied for a place in the league phase and six teams from outside the state participated in the tournament. The tournament saw keen competition among the teams for the honours. Loyola college, Chennai emerged winners and Jamal Mohd. College, Trichy were the runners-up. Loyola Academy, Hyderabad won the IV place and prize money of three thousand. Wing Cdr. Asha Jyothirmai, an accomplished athlete, presided over the valedictory function and distributed the prizes to the winners.
